The Full ‘Squid Game’ Season 3 Trailer Teases a Wild and Violent End

The end is near for Squid Game, Netflix’s record-setting smash hit—and probably, inevitably, for several of the characters we’ve met along the way, especially in the show’s recent second season. The third installment arrives in June, picking up on the cliffhangers fans have been agonizing over since December, and bringing new waves of peril as the desperate contestants inch closer to either grabbing the prize money or suffering a horrible death.
We got a season three teaser earlier in May, but the first full trailer is here, and it’s full of tension and mayhem—exactly what we demand from our Squid Game shenanigans.
As we already knew would happen, Player 456, aka Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) has been sucked back into the competition after his failed rebellion at the end of season two. It’s safe to assume he’s just as vengeance-motivated as ever, especially after losing his bestie, Player 390, in its bloody climax. Also back for more: Squid Game‘s most fascinatingly complex character, Player 001, aka the Front Man, aka In-ho (Lee Byung-hun), whose vicious deception has yet to be revealed to his fellow gamers.
Season three will also pick back up with determined detective Jun-ho, estranged brother of In-ho, as he tries to track down the Squid Game location before it’s too late for Gi-hun and the rest.
The rest, incidentally, includes Player 333 (the crypto guy), Player 388 (the former Marine), Player 120 (the former special forces soldier hoping to win enough money for gender-affirming surgery), the mother-and-son team of Player 149 and Player 007, Player 222 (the very pregnant ex of the crypto guy), Player 125 (the timid guy), and Player 124 (former bestie of Thanos… RIP, Thanos). There’s also the mysterious North Korean defector turned Squid Game guard, No-eul.
As The Texas Chain Saw Massacre‘s famously ghoulish poster tag once asked, “Who will survive, and what will be left of them?” We’ll find out when Squid Game season three arrives June 27 on Netflix.
